Hi! I'm Claire,
I am a qualified, experienced Teacher and tutor, founder of Learning Buddy Tutoring & Wellbeing and lead SEN teacher.
I am also a Drawing and Talking Practitioner, providing person-centred therapeutic intervention for children, young people and adults to enable individuals to express and process their emotions and feelings through symbolic representation and storytelling language.
I love to share my passion for learning with others by providing quality tuition on a one-to-one basis in a fun and engaging manner to suit your child's individual learning needs and style.
I believe the primary years build the foundations for lifelong learning and as a mum myself, I understand the importance of these foundations. My aim is to support your child to develop the key skills and tools to support them along their learning journey, helping them to grow in confidence in their own ability whilst developing a love of learning too.
During my teaching career, I have worked across a range of primary schools, gaining experience as a SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), subject leader of Maths, Phonics and Early Years Lead. I have taught from Nursery age through to end of Primary (Year 6) and currently work as Lead SEN Teacher in a Secondary provision, supporting students with complex communication needs, including, Autism and ADHD. I am currently training as a Level 5 Specialist Teacher in Dyslexia and Literacy difficulties. I believe in supporting children through a holistic approach so have extended my services to now offer Drawing and Talking therapy.

​Tutoring:
I can provide tuition in all primary subjects, specialising in Maths and English, including Reading and Phonics up to the learning stage of Year 6. If your child is above
Year 6 school age but is working at below Year 6 then please do get in touch for a chat as I may still be able to help. I also provide early learning activity sessions to pre-school age, helping them to develop the key skills for starting school, including our popular Funky Fingers activities to develop gross and fine motor skills, important for physical development including early
writing and independence and phonics activities for early reading and writing.

After our initial chat, the first tutoring session is a chance for us to get to know each other through a range of fun activities whilst I assess your child’s needs. This is the perfect opportunity for you to share your child’s needs with me and for me to talk to
your child about what they feel they’d like me to help them with. I take a holistic approach to your child’s learning and believe that we all have a different learning style. Therefore, I am flexible with my approach and each session is tailored to suit their individual needs. You won’t find us spending the whole session sat a table completing reams of worksheets, instead a typical session will involve a
combination of playing games and activities and some work in their learning journal but this could be outdoors or sat on the floor. I believe that children learn when they are engaged and having fun.
